Most of the time, Eleven wore a red bow tie, but not always. He has also donned a bowler and a tri-corner for those keeping score. He proclaimed “Bow ties are cool” at least four times during his tenure as Doctor, as well as once for fezzes (plus one time for Stetsons in “The Good, The Bad and The Alien,” but he did consider wearing a fez first). It just seems fit to do an easy run for Eleven, since he spent quite a bit of time commenting on his attire. “My experience is that there is, you know, surprisingly, always hope,” he said. The regeneration process was as fast as a sneeze, and he was ready for it….unfortunately his next incarnation wasn’t…but that’s another story.Įleven may have had some personality swings, but he kept a positive, child-like nature beneath it all. Unlike the Tenth Doctor’s regeneration, the Eleventh Doctor knew what was coming and handled it with the charisma as only Eleven could. There was also the occasional issue with Egyptian-influenced head wear, but more about that later, as well. This included a white collared shirt, red suspenders, bow tie (more about that later), with black or brown lace-up boots, high-water slacks, and that classic physics teacher jacket complete with elbow patches. The Eleventh Doctor’s look matched his youthfulness, with a schoolboy style most of the time. She is still the companion of the Twelfth Doctor, and still a bit of a mystery. Clara has apparently met every incarnation of The Doctor, saving him from various situations, and has died countless times in the process. And then there was Clara Oswald (or Oswin Oswald or Clara Oswin Oswald), who he met in different forms and eras. His also teamed up with his TARDIS (aka Sexy) in human form, Idris. The Ponds got whisked back to Manhattan in the 1930s by Weeping Angels, and he sent River off to The Library to die during the Tenth Doctor’s reign. There was River Song, his would-be assassin and once and future wife, who just happened to be The Ponds’ daughter, as it turns out. There were The Ponds Amy he met as a child and left her waiting for his return through adulthood, and Rory Williams her husband who one time watched over her for more than 1,000 years. The Eleventh Doctor has some of the most complicated companions of any of his incarnations. That’s just the tip of the iceberg of his adventures. He was able to witness the saving of Gallifrey, as the 50th Anniversary Special came during his time, and he was able to grow old on the planet Trenzladore defending it from aliens and investigating the last pesky crack in the universe, a phenomenon that had been part of his tenure since his first episode. The Eleventh Doctor’s time was filled with paradox, time shifts, and more messing with the frame of time and space than other doctors before him. His reign ran three seasons, as well as seven specials, with his last cameo appearance in the first Twelfth Doctor episode. The Eleventh Doctor was portrayed by Matt Smith, the youngest actor to play the role, at age 26.
